1)  Why are you called the Watershed?  In any watershed, God sends the rain.  The rain gathers into tributaries, which continue to pour into creeks and rivers larger than themselves until they reach the ocean.

We think of our church as a Watershed as well.  God has poured down His love and mercy on us and we believe we're called to receive it and to 'shed' it to our community through our words and especially our actions.

Summed up... we're trying to funnel our lives into something larger than ourselves... and that 'something larger' is the work of God in the world.  Come join us.

2)  Why does your preacher preach barefooted?  Well, Pastor Matt was a traveling musician before He was our pastor.  Early on in his ministry, God reminded Matt that when he stood up to preach or sing a song, he did that as a representative of Christ, not himself.  It was a humbling experience for him, so he started taking off his shoes as a tangible reminder that He was standing on Holy ground.  Matt continues to remove his shoes even to this day, though some people are confused and even put off by it, because he believes he needs to continue to be reminded of that same lesson all the time.  So it's not a fashion statement or a sign of rebellion.  It's a Holy Ground reminder.

3)    How do I "join" this church?   You don't EVER have to join!  You're welcome to attend and participate as long as you like without becoming a partner.  God doesn't care what church, if any, you are a member of.  He cares about a relationship with you that gets lived out in the world.  We have just begun the process of having a more "formal" church membership. We call it Partnering.  But, if you're interested... we have a simple process -- you simply attend two Partnership Classes to learn more about what it means to "be" the church with your time, talents, gifts, service, and witness, and then you can "officially" become a partner on Partnership Sunday.  Classes happen 4 times a year, and dates can be found on our calendar page.
