I drove past a sign the other day in League City that said "Ike is gone, but we're still here."  I think they were trying to promote their business being open, but I thought it sounded pretty true in a lot of ways.  Hurricane Ike was not a surprise to most who live here.  We knew that if we lived here long enough, this would happen.  But it has been a wake up call and a difficult blow to our friends and neigbors here.  But we're still here.

We may be walking with a limp here in League City and the surrounding areas, but we're still here.  We may have been hurt, but we're still here.  We may have seen things and heard stories that we hoped never to hear, but we're still here.

We're still here helping our neighbors clean and clear their yards and houses.  We're still here trying to find a sense of balance and normalcy.  We're still here refusing to whine and thanking God for what we have instead of focusing on what we have lost.  We're still here.

I'll try to keep this up-to-date as often as possible these next few weeks so you can know what we're doing as a church to shed God's love in the Bay Area of Houston.  Check back soon.
