Well, it’s hard to believe that school is starting on Monday, but it is!  Another year of parents thinking where did last year go and my child can’t be old enough to be in . . . insert grade level here.

School starting is also a time when people tend to try to reconnect with God or find a new church.  That’s why on September 12, we’re going to do something very different for us – something designed to help people consider The Watershed as a place for them to do just that!

It’s called The Watershed Welcome Back to Worship and Water Day and the name is pretty self-explanatory.  At our regular time of 10:30am, we’re going to have an incredible day of worship, starting a new sermon series called “The Christian Atheist.”  Then, right after worship, we’re going to have mini-potluck lunch in the cafeteria and water slides for the kids outside (or kids at heart)!  The church will be providing hotdogs, hamburgers, fixins, and drinks.  Sign up at the back table this Sunday to bring some picnic-style side dishes to share!

The bottom line is that it will be the perfect day for you to invite someone to The Watershed so they can experience the love and warmth of God’s people here.  My goal is for every person in the church to make three personal invitations to a friend or family that may be looking for a new church home or to reconnect with Christ!    That’s a bold and huge goal for us, but I believe we can do it.  I hope you’ll send me an e-mail or post on Facebook when you’ve made an invitation so we can celebrate!  Remember, 80% of people who come to a new church do so because of the invitation of a trusted friend.

Let’s start the fall off right and get 200 people to worship that day.  It’s not about the number.  It’s about the people that may need to know the love and the grace of God right here in our community!  See you Sunday.

in Christ,
