Hey friends,
One of the things that makes me the most proud of our church is the way we take seriously what it means to re-present Christ in the world. Starting a new church has given us the opportunity to create our own DNA as a church - or more precisely, to join God's work in creating our DNA. I want to highlight a couple of things that are coming up that showcase the heart that God is cultivating here at The Watershed.
First, there's UMARMY - our Sr High mission trip to Bridge City, TX which starts this Sunday. This will be the biggest group we have sent so far (6 youth and 2 adults) and we believe it will grow in years to come as our youth group and our church continue to grow. In the worship service this week, we'll be sending our youth and adults off with a prayer as they go to represent Christ and The Watershed by doing home repair for impoverished and elderly families.
The next thing I want to lift up is our very first church-wide mission trip to Mexico October 14-17th. We are going with our mother church, Clear Lake UMC, on a trip to do medical missions and construction. If you are in the healthcare field or can swing a hammer, we'd love for you to go on this historic trip with us! Ages 13 or over are welcome to go with us (minors must be accompanied by an adult) and the cost is $150 per person. Sign-ups continue at church this Sunday.
Those are just two ways that God continues to exercise our heart muscles as we learn more and more to serve Christ in the world. Kindness Explosion, water patrols, VBS, water wells, EasterFest, Spirit Fest, and Holiday in the Park are just a few more! When you volunteer in all of these areas, you are helping us share the good news, make connections with new people that God may use to grow faith, and provide proof that God is transforming the Bay Area by transforming people just like us!
I believe The Watershed can be a church that gives people hope about what a church can be! Thanks for helping us do that. You are The Watershed. See you Sunday!
