Life Journal Day 3:
Scripture: 2 Cor. 5:19b - "And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore, Christ's ambassadors, as though God was making His appeal through us.
Observation: Two things jump out to me: 1) There is a sent-ness here. A leader sends out their ambassador to carry a message and to re-present the leader. What the ambassador says is taken to be from the mouth of the leader. What a huge reponsibility that is! 2) I wonder what message many of us carry with us each day. Is it a finger-pointing message, a rule-following message, a "we're better than you message"? Or do we carry Jesus' message of reconciliation? What we do or say is taken to be as if it came from Jesus himself. That makes me want to be really careful to represent Him the right way.
Application: If I don't do my job as a Christian (a follower of Jesus) or if I don't do it the right way, how will people learn that God wants to reconcile people to himself and to one another? If all they get from me is ambivalence, or judgement or nothing at all, then how will they know? I can't believe Jesus trusted me with this message. I can't believe He trusted us with this message. What a privilege and a responsibility!
Prayer: Lord, I want to represent You the right way! Help me to see the ways, the times and the opportunities You will give me today to represent You to the people I meet. Thanks for letting me be Your ambassador!
