We gave Life Journals to everyone who came on Easter.  In order to encourage folks to accept the challenge of doing this journal every day for 40 days (until Pentecost), I decided to post some of my thoughts that come out of my Life journal.  Hope this is helpful.

Life Journal Day

Day 1 -

Scripture:  I Cor 14:15 - "I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind.  I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind."

Application:  Paul reminds us of the importance of engaging spirit and mind together.  Some people say that we should set aside our mind and just worship God in our spirit.  In fact, there are moments I envy folks who can do that because it is very hard for me.  I'm constantly thinking, analyzing, etc . . .  Paul reminds me that I should be doing both.

Observation:  I am reminded that worship is not just about a feeling or an emotion.  It's about loving God with our heart, mind , soul and strength.  I don't think very much about how to love God with my mind, but I'm glad Paul is challenging me to do so.  Thinking, too, is worship.  As a Christian, I shouldn't check my mind at the door.

Prayer:    Lord, thanks for reminding me of all this.  I want to love you with all my heart, soul, strength and yes, even my mind.  Use them all as you will.
